A Single Day to Age Healthier: A Look at our 2024 Info Fair

Last week, we opened our doors and welcomed our community to our 2024 Active Adult Info Fair. This annual active living fair connects older adults with the information and resources they need to optimize their well-being, no matter their age. This is our second fair since re-opening the Centre for in-person programming, and with over 250 attendees, we’re happy to see our community eagerly reconnecting!

At this fun open event, attendees were able to enhance their knowledge by meeting with experts in senior care and living, and discover the wide variety of products and services available to them. Here’s a sample of the fun and learning we experienced:

Exhibitor Area Filled with the Best of the Best

Looking for a new hearing device? Need a lawyer for estate planning? How about advice for selling your home and moving into a retirement community? Our Fair puts all these resources and more in one place! Fair-goers got to meet experts from a wide range of products and services, who all share one goal: helping you optimize your health at every stage of your life. If you browsed this exciting tabled area, you got to meet with some of the most trusted local experts who are here to help you!

Learning Something New at our Workshops

The afternoon had a packed schedule of educational presentations, allowing guests to take a break while enhancing their knowledge. We learned about everything from real estate options for seniors to mental health and dementia care, ensuring that you’re empowered to live however you’re happy, whether it’s independently or with a community.

A Touch of Self-Care, Too!

For those looking to refresh and put their health first, we had healthcare and wellness providers on-site to give hands-on services and advice. This included massage sessions from the students at Oxford College’s RMT program, Reflexology and pulse therapy from our wellness instructor Monica, and 1-on-1 tips for managing blood sugar and blood pressure courtesy of our friends at LAMP Community Healthcare. Guests got to take care of their body and mind thanks to help from the pros!

In case you missed all the fun and education at this year’s event, the Active Adult Centre has more opportunities to get connected and age healthier while still having fun!
