About Us

The Active Adult Centre of Mississauga (AACM) is a not-for-profit recreational, wellness, and community engagement hub for adults 50+ years of age.

Attended by thousands of members and stakeholders annually, the Centre offers a wide array of weekly classes, events, and programs focused on fitness, creativity, and multicultural enrichment. As a registered charity, the AACM keeps older adults in Mississauga, Peel, and the Greater Toronto Area active, independent, and engaged with their community.

Founded in 1992 and originally known as the Square One Older Adult Centre (SOOAC), the Centre meets the diverse social and educational needs of its members thanks to a range of affordable, accessible, and stimulating programs and activities that strengthen the body, enliven the mind, and awaken the spirit.

The AACM is governed by a strong volunteer Board of Directors from a wide variety of professional and cultural backgrounds, with guidance from an enthusiastic team of over 130 volunteers. The Centre also partners with multiple community and corporate partners, and hosts meeting space for many different ethno-cultural older adult groups and clubs.

Membership to our friendly Centre is open to individuals 50 years of age or better.
